RICHMOND, Ind. – Michael G. Burton, age 63, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly Friday, December 11, 2020, at Reid Health. Michael graduated from Richmond High School in 1975, where he was a member of the orchestra. Michael retired from Belden in August 2014, after 38 years of service. He was an avid NASCAR, Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and IU basketball fan. Michael’s love of baseball inspired him to become a little league umpire. He enjoyed professional wrestling and rodeo events. Michael was a history buff and Star Trek fan, who had attended Star Trek conventions. He loved Dr. Who. Michael also enjoyed attending Rock ‘n’ Roll and classical music concerts, as well as various plays. Additionally, he loved visiting amusement parks and traveling. Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Karen Marshall Burton, to whom he was married September 15, 1979; sister, Sharon K. Burton Hamilton and her children, Jerry Lee, Jason, Chad, and Brandy; brothers-in-law, Michael (Vicky) Marshall and their son, Mikey and Jeff (Stacy) Marshall and their children, Miranda, Alex, Timothy, and Amber and estranged brother-in-law, Robert D. (Fanny) Marshall Jr. and their daughters, Filomena, April, and Jessica; aunts, Alberta Burton and Janet Schlotterbeck; numerous cousins; and many friends. He will also be missed by his fur babies, Doctor Ray the dachshund and JJ the sheltie and feathered family members, TJ the canary and Sunshine the parakeet. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Beverly Jean Hartman Burton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert D. and Betty J. Seekings Marshall Sr.; paternal and maternal grandparents; brother-in-law, Jerry Hamilton; three aunts; three uncles; and cousin. A memorial service for Michael G. Burton will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 12, 2021, in Shelter #3 at the Middlefork Reservoir, 1750 Sylvan Nook Drive, Richmond with Rev. Robert C. Meckley officiating. A picnic lunch will be provided by Faith United Lutheran Church. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
