Deloris May Hodel

RICHMOND, Ind. – Deloris May Hodel, age 86, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Reid Health after a short illness. Deloris was born on May 27, 1935, in Darke County, Ohio, to John and Minnie Brinley and raised on a small farm in Nashville, Ohio. She lived in Ohio until 1968, when she and her husband, John, relocated to Richmond. It was here where Deloris raised her family and lived out the rest of her life. She was a member of Living Word Christian Fellowship and enjoyed reading and studying the Bible and watching Christian tv shows. Deloris was known for her sweet demeanor. She never knew a stranger and was always reaching out to others with Christ-like love. Deloris cherished spending time with her children and grandson and loved going on drives and enjoying the simple things of life. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Jeff Hodel and Jenny Hatch, both of Richmond; grandson, Dalton Hatch of Greenville, Ohio; step-grandson, Jimmy (Glenda) Unterbrink of Indianapolis, Indiana; great-grandson, Cason Unterbrink; niece, Lynne Brinley-Schneider of Springfield, Missouri; and nephews, Larry Brinley of Greene Cove Springs, Florida, and Steve (Shelley) Brinley of Greenville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Hodel; parents; sister, Jean (Bill) Harmon; brothers, Kenneth (Edna) Brinley and Harold (Donna) Brinley; and niece, Tish Bashore. Visitation for Deloris May Hodel will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Living Faith Church of God, 3777 Nolands Fork Road, Richmond with Pastor Allen Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022, in Nashville Cemetery in Nashville, Ohio.
