Born March 18, 1916, in Bicknell, Indiana to Hubert A. and Isabelle Blair Murray, he was a former resident of Florida now residing in Richmond. Eugene was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII. He attended First Friends Meeting. He was a former truck driver for the Richmond Baking Company, McClain Dray Lines and the Chippewa Trucking Company. Eugene also managed the Park Place Apartment Complex for 8 years in Fort Myers, FL. He was a lifetime member of the Teamsters Union of Indianapolis and American Legion Post #65. Survivors include his sons, Eugene V. Murray Jr. of Phoenix, AZ and Thomas R. Murray and his wife Mary Ann of Okeechobee, FL; daughter, Doris E. “Dee” Hemmelgarn and her husband Alan of Richmond; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola C. Murray; parents, two brothers, and four sisters. Visitation for Eugene V. Murray Sr. will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 11th , 2010, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday March 12th at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with his niece Pat Bennett officiating. Burial will be at Earlham Cemetery with military honors.
