Smith, age 58, of Richmond, started his new journey Friday, February 5, 2010, at his daughter’s home in Lynn. Born March 10, 1951, in Wayne County to Clifford and Dorothy Smith, he lived most of his life in Richmond. John was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a truck driver delivering the USA Today newspaper. John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his children, Holly Hamilton and her husband Jason of Lynn, Lisa Cox of Connersville, Chad Wineinger and his wife Amy of Pershing, Amy Peters and her husband David of Richmond, John Smith of Ohio and Jason Smith of Richmond; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clifford Smith and his wife Donna and Roger Smith and his wife Sandy of Ohio; nieces; nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Penny Hoover Smith who died in 2001; parents; sister, Wilma Jean; and brothers, Charles and Richard. Visitation for John W. Smith will be from 12-1 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Chaplain David Garman officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Hagerstown.
