RICHMOND, Ind. Joan Barker, age 85, of Richmond, died Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Reid Hospital. Born August 2, 1927, in Preble County, Ohio, to John Lester and Blanch Alexander Hollingsworth, she lived most of her life in the Richmond area. Joan was a 1945 graduate of Richmond High School. She retired in 1995 from Bank One. Joan was a lifetime member of Middleboro United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Thomas A. Barker; daughter, Sherri (Greg) Sweet of Shelbyville, Indiana; son, Steve (Robin) Barker of Peachtree City, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Adam, Jonathan, and Abigail Sweet, and Spencer and Courtney Barker; sister, Carolyn Strohmier of Richmond; nieces; nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation for Joan Barker will be from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Burcham officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.
