Obituary:
Floyd R. Farmer, age 78, of Richmond, died Sunday morning, February 10, 2013, at Reid Hospital after a brief illness. He was born June 24, 1934, in Knox County, Kentucky, to William and Vinnie Begley Farmer. Floyd graduated from Knox County High School in Barbourville, Kentucky, in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. After moving to Richmond, he worked for Berg’s Photo Supply and later retired from the American Tobacco Company as a sales representative. Floyd was an outgoing person with many hobbies which included photography, boating, Model -A cars, and was a passionate collector of bluegrass and folk music. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Clara Christine Riley Farmer; brother, Billy Dan Farmer of New Paris, Ohio; nephews, Steven Collinsworth of Georgetown, Kentucky, Jimmy Farmer of Tipp City, Ohio, and Billy Ray Farmer of Centerville; and niece, Vicki Marsten of Stamping Ground, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Burgess Farmer and Vernon Farmer; and sisters, Anna Belle Brumback and Norma Sue Collinsworth. Visitation for Floyd R. Farmer will be from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Malone and Rev. Josh Cook officiating.
