Madeline E. Abrams

RICHMOND, Ind. – Madeline E. Abrams, age 90, of Richmond, died Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Reid Hospital & Health Care Services. Born May 21, 1922, in Berea, Kentucky, to Thomas and Ethel Harding Legear, she lived in this area most of her life. Madeline attended high school in French Lick, Kentucky. She was a member of Scaffold Cane Baptist Church in Kentucky. Madeline was a loving mother and wife. She enjoyed playing bingo and card games of any kind. Madeline loved her family dearly. Survivors include her husband of 75 years, Chester Abrams, to whom she was married July 25, 1937; son, Roland (Karen) Abrams of Richmond; daughters, Nita Burke of Fountain City and Wilma Marlene “Mim” (Larry) Duncil of Cambridge City; nine grandchildren, Vicki (Terry) Hoober of Fountain City, Sondra (Robert) Clay of Dayton, Ohio, Lisa (Gary) Davidson of Eaton, Ohio, Angela Burke of Fountain City, Lisa Schoolcraft of St. Louis, Missouri, Michelle (Dan) Brouse of Richmond, Barbie (Mark) Nothstine of St. Louis, Missouri, Sheryl (Brett) Oakerson of Richmond, and April (Mikel) Talbot of Centerville; 22 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, William Benton (Rosa) Legear of Webster, Floyd Herbert Legear of Richmond, Clyde (Judy) Legear of Richmond, and Allen Legear of Berea, Kentucky; nieces; and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry Legear; sister, Alberta Swinford; and son-in-law, Donald Burke. Visitation for Madeline E. Abrams will be from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Dr. Martin Holman officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.
